Change

Change can be a good thing.  You change the way you cut your hair & you can look younger than you really are.  Most people like to change things up every now & then.  Wither its going out to eat at a different restaurant than they usually eat at or getting some new cloths that maybe they wouldn’t normally buy.

My son on the other hand doesn’t like change.  He’s been this way since he was little.  Even getting rid of toys that he’s not played with for years, is hard for us to get him to do.  Because of this not liking change we were so afraid that moving from one grade to the next would be an issue with him.  For some reason this has never been a problem, which was very relieving for us.   Now you have to understand something, our son is a very well behaved young man.  He’s never been one to throw a fit even when he was little, he just wasn’t one that cried about everything to get his way.   As a baby about the only time he cried was when his diaper was getting changed.  If he cried any other time we almost always knew something was really wrong.

He gets very upset when we have to get rid of some of those toys, he never wants to get new shoes even thou the old ones have holes in them.  He’s a seventh grader now & still takes peanut butter jelly sandwich to school every day.  He will not change & take anything else, unless he’s not feeling well, then he’ll take saltine crackers for lunch.

Now going, when he was little to get a haircut.  That was a disaster this was one of the times he would cry for no reason & cry did he ever.  He would try & rip the cover, off swipe his hands at the scissors & scream his head off.  Since we never hardly ever seen this side of him it was funny to us.  I don’t think the stylist thought so, but she didn’t know him like we did.  This was a rare occasion.   Of course we figured out a way to keep him distracted after a few times of this, we just took the laptop put in a movie & he was all good.  He’s not really changed how he wants his hair cut either.  Been the same way since he was little.

When we found out he needed glass we were so afraid that he wouldn’t wear them, another change that he would have to put on every day.  Course the eye doctors like, once he realizes he can see things again he will have no problem wearing then.  He was right, once he got his first pair of glasses he hasn’t had a problem wearing them.   Now the change he has a problem with is getting new frames.

Makes me wonder once he gets a girlfriend if he will stay with the same one, just because he doesn’t want to change things.  Of course then again maybe he won’t want a girlfriend at all, because that is change in itself.

We’ve tried to tell him change is a good thing.  But it just seems to go thru one ear & out the other.  I suppose this part of him not liking change really hasn’t affected him too awful much.  Just some of the things he’s missed out on because they were different.  Hopefully one day soon he will grow out of this not liking change.

So what about you?  Are you one that likes to change things up or do you always want them to be the same way.  Don’t forget that if you never try something new, you’ll never know what you’re missing.  So be Bold & try something new this week!
